Every January here in MINT Business Club we run a session to create a Vision Board.
I’ll admit to being sceptical the first time we did it. I was unconvinced about trying to represent my dreams and aspirations by cutting and sticking pictures out of magazines and pasting them onto a sheet of paper.
But vision boarding is a well-known way of letting our brains explore and express our deepest wishes for ourselves and our businesses via the pictures and text, the colours and words that jump out from pages (sometimes without us even knowing that’s what we wanted to achieve). A Vision Board is simply a representation of our goals, small or large, relating to the direction we want to take our lives in.
This year, for the first time, we’ll host our session in our headquarters, The HUB, Consett.
This in itself is the biggest indicator for me that the visions we hold dear and dreams we aspire to, can actually become reality. For over a decade, I’ve dreamed about having a space from which to serve the small business community. Somewhere that people can come and work, talk and learn without fear of being judged, a safe space to get excited about what can be achieved.
This building, the HUB, was a key factor on my own Vision Board a couple of years ago, and as I sit writing this blog, it still feels surreal that it exists at all.
Vision Boarding is such a powerful tool and having it on the wall next to my desk as a daily reminder of the things I really want from my businesses, the values I hold dear and the people I wish to help has driven me forward in times of difficulty.
So I invite you to join us on Tuesday 10th January to take some time out of your business to work on your business. Be open to the process and create and capture something to inspire you right throughout the year.
It will be time well spent, I can assure you.
