MINT Business Club is proud to be an approved Gateway provider for the UK Government’s Kickstart scheme.

Unfortunately we are no longer able to take new business applications for the Kickstart Scheme

If you can offer a six-month work placement to a young person, aged between 16 and 24 currently claiming Universal Credit, the Government will cover the costs of doing so.

We will act as your ‘Gateway’ providing you with:

  • All the support you need to get started – we’ll help you with all of the paperwork and submit your application to the DWP on your behalf. Once approved, we’ll help you with your job spec and get your Kickstart vacancy ad live and help arrange interviews and support you through the selection process.
  • HR and Recruitment consultant available for advice and guidance throughout the process.
  • Vocational training for the Kickstarter – we’ve developed a range of training to help your Kickstarter to be successful in their placement as well as preparing them for taking up future employment once the scheme ends.
  • Ongoing support – we’ll be here for you, as an employer, and your Kickstarter(s).

To find out more about how you can offer a young person a meaningful placement in your business, please contact us at or use the contact form below.

About the scheme

What is Kickstart?

The government introduced the Kickstart Scheme to fund the direct creation of high-quality jobs for young people at the highest risk of long-term unemployment. It will give young people the chance to build their confidence and skills in the workplace and to gain experience that will improve their chances of going on to find long-term, sustainable work.

This will sit alongside a guaranteed foundation of support through an expanded Youth Offer delivered through the DWP, providing a range of targeted support to help young people find lasting work.

What type of business can apply?

MINT can process applications on behalf of Limited Companies, CICs and Charities. Sole Traders may apply through Adecco Working Ventures

How it works

The Kickstart Scheme is a £2 billion fund dedicated to creating hundreds of thousands of high-quality, 6-month work placements aimed at those aged 16-24 who are on Universal Credit and are deemed to be at risk of long-term unemployment.

The funding available for each job offered to a young-person will cover 100% of the relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week, plus the associated employer National Insurance contributions and employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions.

The benefits

Each young person on the Kickstart scheme will gain meaningful, paid employment for 6-months to help them improve their life-skills and employment choices.

For each ‘Kickstarter’ job an employer offers, the government will:

Employers will also be able to top up that payment if they wish.

MINT Business Club can act as your Gateway provider working in partnership with you to recruit young people, giving them the opportunity to gain meaningful employment. One of the key benefits of engaging with MINT as your Gateway provider is the vocational training options we have available for your kickstarter, not only to support them but also to meet the objectives of the Government scheme in terms of employability.
