Wouldn’t it be MINT if you had an extra pair of hands to help GROW your CIC or Ltd company?
A Kickstart trainee could be just the person you need… and now MINT Business Club can help you find them!
Did you know that MINT Business Club is now an official Gateway Provider for the Government’s Kickstart scheme?
Well, it’s true – we are.
And we’re mega proud to be supporting so many Limited companies and CICs to find their perfect trainee through Kickstart.
We’ve placed 25 Kickstarters in jobs across the North East since March 8th, 2021 and currently have ,another 30+ vacancies in the pipeline.
We think it’s just MINT to be helping so many 16-24 year-olds to find exciting 6-month employment opportunities to kickstart them on their careers.
But more than that, we’re excited to help business owners, like you, to grow your business with that much-needed extra pair of hands – without it costing you a penny!
Whether it’s someone to help with marketing and social media, order fulfilment, customer service, admin, labouring or any other role you think you need – just imagine the difference it could make to your business taking on an extra trainee?
OFF TO A FLYING KICKSTART
As one of the first to take on a Kickstarter, on April 12th this year, Aimee Veitch (pictured in main photo above beautifully captured by our member Gavin Forster) from Corsetry & Couture, can vouch for that difference…
“Our Kickstarter, Sami (pictured next to Aimee) is brilliant. From the first day, he has fit in so well and has transformed our social media communications.”
Just as Aimee’s bespoke bridalwear business began to flourish, it hit difficult times when the Covid pandemic struck. Aimee knew she wanted to come back fighting in 2021 and decided it was time to take on her first trainee. So, when Nicola told her about the Kickstart scheme, it seemed like a no brainer to have the MINT team to guide her through the process. (Aimee is one of our founding MINT members and knows we give 100% care, support and energy to everything we do.)
Plus, with an initial six-month placement, it was a low-risk way for her to try out a trainee (especially during a pandemic). But it also gives a much-needed job placement experience to a 16–24-year-old trying to get back in to work. And the added bonus – her Kickstarter is fully funded by the Government for those six months.
As Aimee says, it couldn’t have gone better…
“The support from MINT Business Club has been incredible. They have helped with all the contracts and things I was really unsure about taking on my first employee. This was a big leap for my business, but I’m delighted at how well its already working out.”
(And here at MINT, we’re delighted for you too, Aimee! It’s so lush to hear how well it’s going.)
A SPANNER IN THE WORKS
Another business, co-run by a MINT member, benefitting from the scheme is Spanner Monkeys. The Newcastle based Landrover servicing and repairs company has taken on a Kickstarter to work with them in their growing business.
Peter Ellis, who runs Spanner Monkeys with wife and MINT member Marsha Dolan Ellis said…
We had been looking to take on an apprentice and had over 200 applications. We found it scary how many young people were in the same position – partly qualified with some experience but let go by employers due to the pandemic.
The Kickstart scheme allowed Spanner Monkeys to take on a new team member, paid for by the Government for six months.
Peter added…
We took on Elias, through through Kickstart via MINT Business Club. It has meant we can add another employee to the business with very little risk. If things keep up pace the way they are we will be able to keep Elias on in September when the Kickstart placement finishes.
