Why Should We Talk About Money?

“When I launched my first business, I didn’t pay myself for one year”.

12 years later, when I read that back to myself, it seems absolutely ludicrous but it’s a fact.

I took another part-time job rather than take money out of the company and chose to pay people around me, rather than me.

*Sigh*

Our ‘fear’ of money when we’re self-employed or run a small business is not uncommon. In fact, sadly, it’s very common and our Mindset needs to change – or how will our businesses give us what we need?

MINT Business Club has teamed up with our sponsors NEL Fund Managers and Valued Accountancy to host a fully-funded training course (via Zoom) to start the conversation about Money in our businesses and learn practical skills.

We’ve delivered this training to over 120 business owners in the North East and we always get great feedback (although it can be challenging at times!).

What we will cover across the 12 hours:

*Introductions from the NEL Fund Managers Team and Valued

*Personal targets and aspirations

*Our why – the driving force behind our small businesses

*The real costs of our business activities

*Cash flow, forecasting, budgeting and the terminology

* Tracking your finances

*Key Performance Indicators – KPIs (what they are and how to set them)

* Driving Sales and making money

* Accountability and next steps

Places are subject to eligibility and are limited to 20 people who work or are self-employed so if you would like to secure your spot please do so immediately via the link.

This training is open to every small business based anywhere in the North East (apart from the Tees Valley area) and you will be asked to complete some eligibility paperwork to meet the funding criterion).

NEL Fund Managers is the firm responsible for managing the North East Small Loan Fund and North East Growth Capital Fund, both of which are supported by the European Regional Development Fund.
