  • MINT Members Only
  • 1 Hour
  • Online (Zoom)
More Info

Join us on 25 May for Etsy with Rachael Sligo.

A bit about Rachael…
“After completing a combined teaching and fine art degree, I went straight into primary teaching, which has been my full time job for the last 19 years. After having my daughters, I decided to pick up painting again and ended up opening an Etsy shop in 2018 as friends and family wanted to commission work from me – I had absolutely no idea what I was doing! After realising that the customers wouldn’t just come to me, I began doing online courses and paid an expert to audit my shop. I have put in a lot of graft over the last few years but have learned a great deal – about myself as well as how to run an Etsy shop. I now teach part time, work in my virtual store every day alongside my day job and have grown a successful Etsy training course which has supported over 50 North East small businesses to grow rather than give up.”
What is the session all about?
If you are new to Etsy and not sure where to start, this training will cover the basics and essentials of setting up shop, finding and appealing to the right audience, understanding SEO and managing the day to day tasks.
What will be covered?

The Basics of creating an account
Getting your shop front right
Creating a brief bio using keywords
Using announcements to converse with your ideal client
Getting policies in place

You can find Rachael on Instagram or on her website.

We run regular taster sessions so you can get a feel for what MINT is all about.

Let’s Talk About Money: Business Planning & Budgeting

All Wednesdays In May 2021

Starts Wed, 5 May 09:30 – 12:00

  • Fully Funded
  • 12 Hours
  • Online (Zoom)
More Info

Why Should We Talk About Money?

“When I launched my first business, I didn’t pay myself for one year”.

12 years later, when I read that back to myself, it seems absolutely ludicrous but it’s a fact.

I took another part-time job rather than take money out of the company and chose to pay people around me, rather than me.

Our ‘fear’ of money when we’re self-employed or run a small business is not uncommon. In fact, sadly, it’s very common and our Mindset needs to change – or how will our businesses give us what we need?

MINT Business Club has teamed up with our sponsors NEL Fund Managers and Valued Accountancy to host a fully-funded training course (via Zoom) to start the conversation about Money in our businesses and learn practical skills.

We’ve delivered this training to over 120 business owners in the North East and we always get great feedback (although it can be challenging at times!).

What we will cover across the 12 hours:

*Introductions from the NEL Fund Managers Team and Valued

*Personal targets and aspirations

*Our why – the driving force behind our small businesses

*The real costs of our business activities

*Cash flow, forecasting, budgeting and the terminology

* Tracking your finances

*Key Performance Indicators – KPIs (what they are and how to set them)

* Driving Sales and making money

* Accountability and next steps

Places are subject to eligibility and are limited to 20 people who work or are self-employed so if you would like to secure your spot please do so immediately via the link.

This training is open to every small business based anywhere in the North East (apart from the Tees Valley area) and you will be asked to complete some eligibility paperwork to meet the funding criterion).

NEL Fund Managers is the firm responsible for managing the North East Small Loan Fund and North East Growth Capital Fund, both of which are supported by the European Regional Development Fund.
